Like "Positive negatives"/this is a very intersting concept. As has been said: "If you want what you have always had, keep doing what you have been doing. If you want something other than "that", changes are required." Someone else said, "You don't not have habits but you replace them with more desirable habits". "Addiction" doesn't have to be bad. Focus, concentration, living on purpose are all "good and positive addictions"/as one may want to call them. It is easier to live with good habits, so why not replace/establish more of them. The good thing is - it is OUR choice. God has given to us the flexibility that he has not given to any other creatures he created. It comes with a price. Like Storms have a purpose of balancing out the environment....cooling where things are too hot....so we should not get too out of whack when they happen. Appreciate them for what they are/recognize them for what they are....not easy if your house floods/is burned by lightening/damaged by tornadoes.....

Thanks again for some great insights!

I have enjoyed watching quite a few of these/it seems like most/as I have been over looking at YouTube to see what else is there on occasion.

One suggestion you might think of......You may not necessarily want to carry the date with them as they get "stale"/perceived as such........ They are Numbered/which is good of course/although....I think it would be good to show the "off ones" as a letter/letter - number combo....or some such/and have the #'s correspond to the notes.......

Thanks much for all the goodness.......multi-format helps reinforce the learning.......I kind of wish these were....perhaps "two segment"/Chapters....but more in line with the MP3s....

        More thoughts to come....... ;-)

Just discovered you and love the time or duration of the video. Just right! :)

I will go home tonight and restart my daily yoga and walking. It's a positive addiction I fell out of when my dog got injured, and I see the consequences.

I was highly intrigued about the headache thing. I suffer from migraines, so found that part triggered my curiosity.

hi, your videos are awesome, inspiring. I have one question though. Is it ever to late? They say a boy raised by wolfs was found somewhere in the woods. He was quite grown up already. They were able to teach him how to speak and how to behave properly, to dress, to get a job, etc. But they could not teach him how to play with other boys anymore. I am now 25. I believe I have missed on developing my self as a teenager-didn't go in camps, didn't socialize much, never had much friends, wasn't able to manifest myself, sing, dance, joke, play with others. Now i live in society, go to work, get together with people, but I can't seem to make quick jokes, quick remarks. Is it to late to develop my full potential? What is your sincere opinion on this matter? Looking forward to hearing from you :)

      Dear Burkstein

Just read your comment above; at 25 you have a life ahead to explore and realize your potential; take baby steps towards what you want to achieve, and honour those accomplishments. I empathize with you on having missed our on a lot of things growing up, i too didn't have many opportunities. But I have learned to surround myself with positive, supportive, caring people who take an interest in me. I have many passions, but one that stands out above all others and I spend time with people who share the same passion! They give me support and encourage me to be the best I can be! I get inspired by them and continue to grow. These Philospher's Notes are a testimonial to that which I do works and affirms that I am right on track! So, go out there, find your passion, and do what you want to do. In the process, you will meet lots of people who love to do the same, and you will learn how to do those things you feel are important to you!

Brian, congrats on # 100!!! Your positive addiction to wisdom and sharing it has awsomely enhanced my life. In your words, YOU ROCK ! ! ! !

I think it's important to distinguish negative from positive addiction. If we don't, people will think hey what's wrong with substituting pleasure for symptoms. But here's the deal, negative addiction is short term gain for long term pain while healthy addiction is to me short medium and long term gain. You can't beat that in my book.

I loved the parable about the guy with the magic shield that dissolves fear when you walk straight into it. It works.

    Hi Brian,

I think it's valuable to add that the pleasure of masking symptoms is only short term - short term gain for long term pain. If it worked in the long run, it would be healthy. but negative addictions don't that's what makes them negative . Positive addictions to me are those things that give short, medium, and long term pleasure and gain!!!!

    Hi Brian

Congratulations on your #100 tv episode.

I was flicking through my ipod today, and randomly chose this note, and then followed it up with the tv episode, which I then discovered was the last one.

I just loved this note. It certainly helps to explain how my husbands gave up on life with the deaths of his father, mother and sister, which led to a depression, which he chose to manage with alcohol, which eventually led to his suicide. The note for me, gave me some comfort, in that my husband made those choices, and no matter what I tried to do to help him, these were his choices.

I could have let all this pull me down, and for about a year after his death, it really did. However, I can see that I have developed so many positive addictions in my life since discovering PN, that I now have the strength to help me find happiness.

What a note to finish on, wish I'd found it sooner :-)

Hi Brian, Ireally dig your stuff!! You get to the point and you explain things really well in a matter of fact way. Im really trying to make better choices and change my life right now so I want to be an example of proof to my family, that positive affirmations and inner adjustments actually work and we can be and do whatever we want to do or be. I really want to prove this to be exactly right. I want to make this happen!!

    Hello Brian,

I just want to say a big 'thank you'! Been following you a lot on LearnOutLoud, actually that's where I discovered you ... I LOVE IT! I've downloaded all of your daily wisdom, notes and quotes. Well, the free stuff .. sorry, I can't afford much. I drive a lot (miss my bicycle but very greatful for the car) I have you playing ... whenever I'm drawing, doing dishes, house cleaning, feeding the baby ... I am addicted to audio learning and it's normally you I'm listening to. If fact I've maxed out my little mp3 device and there is no music ... I think I may need to invest here in a new one. So, again thank you so so much! Congrats on your 100 episode! Keep doing what your doing!

    Sincerely,

    Mathieu

Thanks for this, it was really interesting and I like your style.
What puzzled me, however, is that neither you nor Glasser seemed to present becoming clear on how to obtain what we want as difficult. This didn't seem intuitively right to me - I think we can often have desires that are obscured by rather complex routes or which don't seem to have simple access (especially when it's a desire which relates to helping others - e.g. I may want to make others more active about environmental issues, but I think in a case like that it would be the complexity of the route that might make action difficult). Do you really think that "how to get there" is the easiest part? Or is that only for fairly straight forward personal issues?

Keep up the great work. The world is hungry and ready for your positive, emotionally charged & spiritually based messages.

    Namaste.
